Prosperity May Be Closer Than You Think

Why is it that over time, the rich seem to get richer? Some people believe that wealthy and successful people actually attract prosperity because they are open to it and believe it will be theirs. If that’s the case, how can we all become positive thinkers regarding attracting and receiving prosperity? Wouldn’t everyone like to have more financial freedom?

To become more open to prosperity, you need to ask yourself a few questions, including your feelings about money. Money evokes strong emotion in many people. To some of us, money is just paper (or plastic), but others place more value on money and the security or freedom that comes with it. For instance, some people keep their bankbooks under their pillows and "read" them before they go to sleep every night. Others think it is monopoly money and spend it the same way. And for some, money conjures up fears of being poor, or lonely, or unloved, unless they have enough. Explore your feelings about money, and try to let go of the negative feelings you may associate with it.

Have you noticed that whenever the subject of money comes up, suddenly the room grows very quiet? We would rather discuss almost anything in lieu of asking someone about their finances or how much money they make. To walk into a bank is like walking into a church or a library. You almost expect the security guard to ask the people in line to be quiet if they speak too loudly. Most of us are very timid when it comes to money. Just give us our little piece of the pie and we’ll go home.

You also need to examine your ethical, religious, or moral principles regarding money. Regardless of our up-bringing or religious tradition, we all have some defined principles surrounding money. Some of our principles may scorn money or prosperity, and not many endorse the accumulation of great fortune.  Although we are encouraged to be charitable to our neighbors, none of the major religions is philosophically opposed to its adherents amassing wealth. And even though the pursuit of money can be at the root of evil, money also has the capacity to relieve hunger and homelessness, and to buy a higher education. In order to attract prosperity, you will need to come to terms with your ethical principles regarding wealth.

A final question to ponder is, if you had an unlimited supply of money that would never run out, what would you do with it? Try to imagine this. You have just won the $350 million Powerball lottery. You have more money than you will ever need or can imagine spending, ever. What would you do with it? Are there major changes that you would make to your life? If so, then you have just recognized that you have financial dreams. To have a dream is the first step to attracting anything in your life.

So be confident, be bold and believe in your dreams. Prosperity may be closer than you think.
